Melissa Werner is a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care across the lifespan. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2014 and spent nearly a decade at Rivendell Behavioral Health Hospital, where she served as a staff nurse, house supervisor, nurse manager, and infection preventionist. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing at Eastern Kentucky University in 2021 before joining Ally Psychiatry in May 2024. Melissa believes that effective mental health treatment begins with understanding the whole person—not just a diagnosis. She takes a collaborative, individualized approach to care, carefully considering each patient’s unique history, life experiences, medical conditions, genetics, lifestyle, and treatment goals. She has a particular interest in complex psychiatric presentations, including treatment-resistant depression, ADHD, trauma-related disorders, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and the intersection of psychiatric and medical conditions. Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach, Melissa emphasizes thoughtful medication management, patient education, and shared decision-making. She strives to help patients understand how medications work, what to expect from treatment, and how biological, psychological, and environmental factors can influence mental health. When appropriate, she collaborates with primary care providers and medical specialists to ensure patients receive comprehensive, coordinated care. Outside of the office, Melissa enjoys spending time with animals and embraces every Halloween season with enthusiasm.
