Valerie is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She began her education at Indiana University earning her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 1998. Over the next 25years she worked in the sales industry before pursuing her nursing career. Valerie earned her Associates Degree in Nursing from Jefferson State Community College in 2020. Then followed with earning her Master of Science in Nursing psychiatric mental health track from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2023.
Prior to starting her career as a PMHNP she worked as a registered nurse for 4 years at UAB Hospital’s Bone Morrow Transplant/ Medical ICU overflow unit. The four years she spent on the unit allowed her to gain critical care, hematology, and end of life care skills. While there she gained invaluable knowledge of how terminal illnesses affect the mental health of patients and families. These experiences along with her personal connection to mental health solidified her passion to become a mental health provider.

Valerie currently sees patients at the stand alone inpatient psychiatric hospital, The Sanctuary at the Woodlands in Cullman, AL. There she treats both adult and geriatric patients with a wide range of mental health disorders.
